MT111ECB|S1 2022/23 Mathematics in EC 2

Arranged  in three units, this course is a methodology and content course focused on the teaching and learning of some concepts in measurement , geometry, statistics and probability geared  at the early childhood level.  Unit one,  geometry,  looks at the  area of mathematics concerning shape, size, position, direction and movement.  Geometry allows us to describe and classify objects in the physical world, a basic skill for early childhood mathematical development. Unit two focuses on measurement which is considered to be a useful mathematical skill, as it  involves assigning  a number to things so they can be compared on the same attributes. Unit three is developing concepts of data analysis and exploring concepts of probability. This unit introduces data, statistics and probability. It is my hope that this course will provide you with the tools needed to develop a solid foundation for early childhood learners.
