SS301GEB|S1 2022/23 Citizenship Education

The course, Citizenship, is designed to equip student teachers with the knowledge and skills required to actively engage pupils in understanding the importance of citizenship to individual and national development. The student teacher will be able to explain the main tenets underlying the different forms of democracy and apply democratic values, principles and procedures to the classroom, school community, country and region. Methodology will employ the use of an interactive approach predicated on inquiry-based learning, reflective learning and other approaches which facilitate self directed learning by pupils. Students will engage in collaborative learning activities to facilitate the construction of composite knowledge drawn from a multiplicity of sources. Student teachers will engage in service learning as an act of participatory citizenship in order to demonstrate the theoretical underpinnings learnt in the course.
